Amusement & Recreation Attendant – itinerant Carnival

***RFI Response*** The worker will not be cooking food from “scratch”. Funnel Cakes: Gold Medal Products1 sells the mix that is used. Following instructions printed on the mix container, pour the mix plus appropriate liquid into the commercial batter blender. Once the batter has been blended, a portion is scooped into a dispenser bottle. A deep fryer would contain cooking oil at the proper temp. Worker would slowly pour batter from dispenser bottle into the fryer so that strings of batter would cling together, forming a funnel cake. When one side of the funnel cake is brown, the worker would use a large slotted spoon to flip the half-browned funnel cake. When the funnel cake is browned on both sides, a large, slotted spoon to pick the funnel cake from the fryer and place into a chafing dish under heat lamp. After customer places order, worker would use tongs to place funnel cake into serving boat and add selected topping such as powdered sugar, whipped cream, or compote to the funnel cake and provide the funnel cake to the customer. Deep Fried Oreos: The same batter that was prepared for funnel cakes would be used for deep fried Oreos ®. Worker would pour banner into a small chafing dish. Oreos would be picked up by gloved hand, dropped into the banner to be coated, and then dropped into the hot oil of the deep fryer. They would float to the surface, be scooped up with slotted spoon, and placed into a small chafing dish under heat lamp. After customer places order, worker would use tongs to place Fried Oreos into serving boat and add selected topping to the Oreos and then hand the product to the customer. Fountain Soda. These workers would NOT be serving any alcoholic beverages. For a fountain drink, the worker would take the proper size cup in their hand, use an ice scoop to scoop ice into the cup (unless the patron ordered no ice), place the cup under the nozzle, press the cup against the lever and fill the cup. Take a lid from the lid supply and secure this on the top of the cup. ***Original F.a.2*** Perform a variety of duties at carnival, assembling, disassembling & operating equipment (amusement rides, game and/or food concessions) May sell tickets & collect fees from customers; provide information about the facilities, rules and regulations; direct patrons to rides, seats or attractions; monitor activities to ensure adherence to rules and safety procedures; provide assistance to patrons entering or exiting amusement rides; clean rides, booths, facilities or grounds; inspect equipment to detect wear and damage and perform minor repairs, adjustments, or maintenance tasks, such as oiling parts; fasten safety devices for patrons, or provide them with directions for fastening devices; announce or describe amusement attractions to patrons to entice customers to games and/or other entertainment; and sell and serve refreshments to customers.
