Duties
Planting and watering trees, shrubs, sod, and other vegetation. Spreading mulch, soil, and gravel by hand or with basic tools. Placing erosion control materials (e.g., blankets, wattles). Assisting with basic irrigation tasks as directed. Removing debris, weeds, and trash from rights-of-way. Using hand tools and small equipment such as shovels, rakes, trimmers, and blowers. Assisting crew members with basic landscaping tasks as directed. Loading and unloading materials and supplies. Following all traffic control and roadway safety procedures. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and near active roadways.
The employer will offer 40 hours of work per week. Normal schedule Monday-Friday, 7am-4:00pm. Shift includes 1-hour unpaid break time. Work on Saturday/Sunday may be required. Workdays, hours and shift time may vary depending on weather conditions.
Basic rate of pay $17.42 per hour. Employer may increase wage based on experience, market conditions, and/or provide additional pay for performance and tenure. Overtime may be available. An overtime premium will be paid when required by Federal, State, or local law, including at time-and-a-half after 40 hours in a workweek. Generally, when overtime is available it will be paid at $34.84 per hour. Employer will provide on-the-job training. A single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Workers will be paid weekly.
The employer will provide worker at no charge all tools, supplies, PPE equipment, uniform, and equipment required to perform job.
Work will be performed at multiple outdoor worksites located along public roadways, medians, shoulders, and rights-of-way in Montgomery, Harris, and Liberty Counties, TX. These worksites are associated with roadway construction and landscaping projects under contracts with the Texas Department of Transportation. Workers will report directly to assigned job sites and will not report to a central office on a daily basis. Employer will provide directions and daily assignments. Optional Daily transportation provided between housing and the daily assignments at no charge to the worker.
Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Workers must comply with all safety regulations related to roadway construction zones.
Workers may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including high-visibility vests, hard hats, gloves, and safety boots.
Must be able to work a 5-day schedule including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when necessary.
