Duties
Workers will be performing physical tasks related to the removal of snow and ice. This includes pushing, shoveling, moving, and cleaning snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots. Additionally, workers will be spreading salt, ice- melting solutions, and solids. Snow Removers will also maintain equipment, clean-up, and remove debris from job sites.
To remove snow and ice from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots, the workers will push, shovel, move, and clear accumulated snow and ice, as well as spread salt and other de-icing products to improve traction and reduce ice accumulation. To perform these duties, workers will use snow shovels, snow pushers, ice scrapers/chippers, snow blowers, salt/sand spreaders, brooms, debris shovels, wheelbarrows, utility carts. The Employer does not utilize snow plows in performing these duties.
As needed, workers will also perform minor maintenance on snow removal equipment to keep it operational during assigned shifts. This includes tasks such as tightening bolts, adjusting settings, replacing worn parts, and clearing jams or blockages on snow blowers and spreaders. Hand tools used for this purpose include wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, pliers, and hammers. When required, workers will perform site clean-up and remove debris from job sites by collecting and disposing of non-hazardous debris generated during snow removal operations using brooms, debris shovels, wheelbarrows, and utility carts.
Job sites include locations where workers perform snow and ice removal services, such as offices, apartment complexes, warehouses, and other commercial properties.
Job sites may also include active construction sites where snow and ice removal are necessary to maintain safe access for workers and visitors.
Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) lbs.
